RECEPTION, POETRY AT SWIRL, AND FIRST BOOK CLUB MEETING-
Yes, we did all that and more in October. Zion Frallicciardi won both awards for the Community and Art show. Laura McDermott Matheric and MJ Fievre read their poetry for us. AND we read and shared Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. Don't miss these events in the future.
BOOK CLUB AT SWIRL
Tuesday, November 12, at 6:00 we'll launch the second book club meeting at Swirl Bistro. Find a copy of “ Where the Crawdads Sing” and join us for a no pressure discussion.
GAL MONTHLY MEETUP
Monday, November 18, 6:00, at the North Regional / BC Library we will have our monthly meetup. Come prepared to paint as we have some piggy banks (which serve as fund raising receptacles) to decorate. An opportunity to communicate and have fun with fellow artists.
PIGGY BANKS INFORMATION: It’s the year of the pig! Join us in a project with Push For Good to send at-risk youth to art, music and sports camps this summer. Contact us to pick up a piggy bank, paint it then return it to be places in local businesses to make an impact this summer. C/o Push For Good
Check out the Guild's Facebook pages. At least one opportunity or inspiration source is posted every day. Your GAL team is constantly looking for new events, shows, classes, and other chances to flex our collective creative muscles. Keep checking the internet.
It's hard enough to sell art without the buyer being hesitant because, after he buys it, he's going to have to frame it. I have solved that problem by going to garage sales on Saturday. Seriously, I have about 50 frames in assorted sizes. Some are modern and some are very ornate and cost a lot of money. I don't even haggle. I have never paid more than $ 3.00 for a frame and usually $ 1.50.
We have developed a contact who has a property that would be a great studio for 8 of us. If interested, call Marvin @ 954-960-5411.
Our sole purpose to foster, encourage, and facilitate interest in the arts. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization based in Coconut Creek, Florida.
